• The rapid display of a sequence of images of 2-D or 3-D artwork to create an illusion of movement is Animation.
• It is an optical illusion of motion due to the phenomenon of persistence of vision.
• A motion picture or a video program is most common method of presenting animation.

Animation is most important part in today world.It is believed that the animation started 5000 years ago, but today we do not have any information about it. Leonardo da Vinci's Vitruvian Man drawing shows multiple angles, implying movement in the first 1500 A.D. With the spread of the Industrial Revolution in Europe and North America in the 18th and 19th centuries, the experimentation of machines that would make images appear to move.The early 20th century marks the beginning of theatrical showings of cartoons, especially in the United States and France. Many animators form studios, with Bray Studios in New York proving the most successful of this era. Bray helped launch the careers of the cartoonists that created Mighty Mouse, Betty Boop, and Woody Woodpecker.In 1928, Mickey Mouse becomes the first cartoon with the sound printed on the film,and is the first notable success for Walt Disney Studios, founded in Los Angeles in 1923.
